If you’re like me and red pepper flakes must be in your cupboard at all the times, then meet my new favorite chili pepper blend that’s sent my former flakes to the back of the cabinet!
Olde Virden’s Red Hot Super Fine Grind–made in Tennessee with Tennessee-grown peppers.
I’ve talked about Olde Virden’s Tennessee Pepper Co. before (their cheese straws are outstanding). While shopping for the cheese straws recently at my friend David Howard’s pottery shop (Treasures in Earthen Vessels) in Gatlinburg, TN, I bought a bottle of their super fine grind version and I just love it! It’s their original Red Hot Sprinkle, but finely ground to distribute the heat and flavor a little more evenly in baking and recipes.
You can find them in a lot of stores in the eastern Tennessee and Kentucky region (Whole Foods and Food City included) and you can always order online at
https://oldevirdens.com/collections/red_pepper_flakes/products/ground-red-pepper. So if spicy is where it’s at for you, give this small batch-blended bottle of goodness from Olde Virden’s Tennessee Pepper Co. a try!
